Specification
A specification in itself defines requirements for lubricants, which, in addition to the physical and chemical properties, also specify the test methods. Globally independent organisations define the performance of engine oils with their specifications. Engine oils are assigned to a specification exclusively according to the fulfilment of defined criteria: e.g. ACEA and/or API.
